How Flagstaff Arrests Work
Flagstaff holds the Coconino County seat, so its offices sit at the center of the county's records network. The 2020 census counted 76,831 residents, a number that describes the city's size but says nothing about who gets arrested. Flagstaff Police handles events inside the city. Coconino Sheriff deputies and other agencies can also arrest people in the same area. Whoever makes the arrest writes the incident report, and Coconino Detention opens a jail record once the person is accepted for booking.
Booking records identity, charges, custody data, and other administrative facts. Because several agencies feed one central records environment, Flagstaff is a smart first stop when the responsible office is unclear. One caution applies. A city dateline alone cannot tell you which agency made the arrest or where the person is held, so confirm both before drawing conclusions.
Where Flagstaff Arrests Appear
Flagstaff Police publishes no daily arrest log. The county offers no online booking feed or inmate roster either, and the Coconino jail FAQ states plainly that inmates are not listed on the website. So a blank search proves nothing about release. A news story, likewise, cannot show that someone is still jailed.
| Channel | Photos | Proper use |
|---|---|---|
| Jail phone | No gallery | Official current-custody check |
| Shared Records | Request if releasable | Official report, booking, and photo route |
| Case portal | No | Verified case alerts, not a roster |
| FlagScanner | No official policy | Selected local-news incidents and logs |
| Arizona Daily Sun | Story dependent | Selective reporting only |
Start with official channels whenever accuracy matters. Outside publishers skip bookings, leave stale pages live, and repeat incomplete charge lists. Treat them as leads toward a record, never as the record itself.
Find a Flagstaff Booking
One Flagstaff arrest can cross several systems. Match the source to the question. The county recent-arrests hub maps the county routes, while the 24 Hour Arrests and Arrest Log pages separate same-day custody checks from multi-day news roundups.
- For current custody, call the Flagstaff jail at 928-226-5200 and use the inmate-information menu.
- Identify whether Flagstaff Police, the Sheriff, NAU Police, or another agency handled the event.
- Request the report or booking file with the approximate date, time, place, and full name.
- Check Arizona Public Access, then the responsible court, for a later disposition.
- Treat news as an event lead and verify it through detention, Records, or court.
Keep custody possibilities in mind. A person may be released, transferred, or held in another facility, and an empty result rules none of those out. When a sentence moves someone into state prison, search the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry instead of the county line.
Flagstaff Arrest Records Hub
The consolidated Police and Sheriff Records Section serves six agencies at once: Flagstaff Police, Coconino Sheriff, Coconino Detention, Williams Police, NAU Police, and METRO. It takes requests for incident reports, photographs, body-worn-camera files, 911 audio, and jail video. That shared route helps most when the arresting agency is uncertain. Include a report number if you have one, plus the date, time, place, event type, and any person details.
File through the official request form. Spell out what you need: an incident report, booking record, intake time, charges, bond data, release field, or booking photograph. Fees vary by agency. Flagstaff Police reports run $8, while Sheriff reports cost $1 per page for the first nine pages and $0.10 after that. Sheriff photos are listed at $17, and Flagstaff Police photos at $30 per CD. Confirm the fee first, since payment precedes release and a deposit may apply.

The Flagstaff and Coconino request screen shows the shared city and county intake route.
The records request form displays request categories, not a gallery of people. Reading it first helps you name the exact material to ask for.
Flagstaff Case Alerts Differ
The Flagstaff Victim Information Portal does one narrower job. Give it a valid case number, verify by phone or email, and it will send updates by text or email, sometimes taking up to 48 hours. It is not an anonymous lookup, a live custody tool, or VINELink.
For present custody, call the jail. For eligible case updates, use the portal. For documents, use Records. The VINELink Check notes that Coconino sits outside the current state VINE deployment list and that Flagstaff runs on CommunityConnect alone. The official Flagstaff case-status screen shows how the case-number route works.
Its prompts show why case alerts must not be mistaken for public arrest browsing.
Flagstaff Arrest News Limits
FlagScanner's incident map offers 1-hour, 24-hour, 72-hour, and 7-day views of police activity. A marker, though, marks an incident, not a booking. Its Area Arrest Logs republish selected county booking lists with no fixed posting hour and no promise of completeness, and the publication time rarely matches intake time.
The Arizona Daily Sun covers local arrests but maintains no standing booking feed. Aggregator pages are weaker still: some skip Coconino, some redirect, and some keep only old entries. Use news archives for context. Then confirm any name and custody status with the official record holder.
After a Flagstaff Arrest
Arizona Public Access searches by name or case number, but it refreshes only weekly and excludes sealed or protected material. Flagstaff Municipal Court, the justice courts, and Coconino Superior Court each handle different matters. A county booking does not guarantee a case appears in the first court you search.
A disposition is simply how the court resolves a matter: dismissal, diversion, plea, acquittal, or sentence. The Coconino Clerk, at 200 N. San Francisco Street in Flagstaff, routes Superior Court file questions at 928-679-7600. Read the complete file before stating any outcome.
